Holiday Overview
The Trango Towers are famous for their difficult rock climbing routes, which have virtually vertical falls, particularly on the East face. Other famous peaks in the area are Muztagh Tower, Biange Tower, Lupsand Tower, Uli Biaho Tower, and Paiju Peak, making it a veritable rock climbing paradise.
In July 1977, a team comprised of Galen Rowell, Kim Schmitz, John Roskelly, and Dennis Hennek successfully ascended the Trango Towers, marking a key milestone in climbing.
The Trango Tower Expedition is a 42 to 45-day expedition that begins in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital. Adventurers go by jeep from the adjacent town of Skardu to the base camp, following important briefings from the tourism agency. The route takes you through the Baltoro Glacier before turning off towards the sub-range.
The Trango Towers' East Face has an incredible 1,600-meter rock wall, one of the world's largest. Explorers are rewarded at the summit with a mountain panorama that equals the magnificence of some of the world's highest peaks, which are conveniently located in this amazing region. The surrounding environment is a mountaineer's paradise, with neighbouring peaks ranging in elevation from 5,000 to over 7,000 metres.
Notably, the Great Trango Towers have developed a reputation as an excellent BASE jumping destination. They even held the world record for the highest BASE jump, with Glen Singleman dropping from an incredible height of 5,955 metres (19,537 ft) off the North-East Face. The Trango Tower Expedition entices those seeking the summit of mountaineering challenges as well as exploration of some of the world's most stunning natural beauties.
