Holiday Overview
The International Himalaya Expedition created history by reaching the peak of Sia Kangri in 1934, starting the Sia Kangri tale. Notably, Hettie Dyhrenfurth was a member of the expedition and set the women's world altitude record, which remained unbroken for two decades.
Sia Kangri is tucked amid the Baltoro Muztagh sub-range in the middle of the Karakoram Mountains. This massive hill is set against the stunning scenery of Shigar village in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Karakoram Mountain Range, a massive series of mountains spanning Pakistan and China, is famous for housing some of the world's most legendary peaks, such as the gigantic K2 and Gasherbrum. This mountain range connects with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at various spots over its 500-kilometer length and 200-kilometer width.
Notably, this area is extremely important because it is shared by three countries: India, Pakistan, and China. Four of the world's 14 eight-thousanders are found within the Baltoro Muztagh sub-range, further cementing the region's reputation as a mountaineer's paradise.
The Sia Kangri Expedition offers an unforgettable adventure through Pakistan's majestic Karakoram Mountains. Prepare to be enchanted by the spectacular grey-backed peaks and massive glaciers, which are among the world's largest and highest. Your journey begins in Askole, via the Skardu district, the closest settlement to these massive peaks. It is critical to understand that the Baltoro Muztagh peaks are known for their technical difficulty, making this expedition only appropriate for very experienced climbers.
As you set out to summit Sia Kangri, you'll be following in the footsteps of renowned mountaineers and adventurers, celebrating their tenacity and your own. This adventure allows you to explore the wild splendor of the Karakorams, building a bond with the awe-inspiring grandeur of this one-of-a-kind tri-point summit. It's an excursion that appeals to the soul and pays homage to the mesmerizing attraction of the Karakoram Mountains.
