Shimshal Valley, located at an elevation of 4700m, is approximately 800 kilometers from Islamabad through the Karakoram Highway (KKH). Shimshal Pass is also known as Pamir pastures by the locals, who use it for grazing their herds of sheep, yaks, and other domestic animals for 6 months.
