Holiday Overview
The first successful climb of Ghent Kangri was made in 1961 by an Austrian Expedition led by Eric Waschak and Wolfgang Axt. Many attempts to reach the peak and its base camp have been thwarted by the region's difficult topography and military presence, making each expedition a tough undertaking.
Ghent Kangri is located in the Saltoro Muztagh, a Karakorum subrange near the Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir. This sub-range contains four peaks that rise beyond 7,000 metres, making it the centre of the Karakoram Mountains. The Karakoram Mountain Range, a massive geological structure that spans Pakistan and China, is home to some of the world's most famous peaks, including the renowned K2. This range, which is approximately 500 kilometres long and 200 kilometres wide, connects with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at several spots. The area's geographical significance is highlighted by its junction with three different countries: India, Pakistan, and China.
The Ghent Kangri Expedition offers a fascinating journey over Pakistan's enormous Karakoram Mountains, providing travellers with mesmerising views of colossal grey-backed peaks and immense glaciers that are among the world's largest and highest. It's an opportunity to witness nature's raw beauty at its most ferocious.
Join us on the Ghent Kangri Expedition as we explore this awe-inspiring region where nature's majesty knows no bounds and the pursuit of adventure and exploration takes front stage against a backdrop of stunning Himalayan vistas.
