Holiday Overview
Your trek to the summit of this famous behemoth begins at the picturesque Passu Village, tucked in the heart of Gilgit-Baltistan's Gojal Valley. Batura Sar is the second most prominent peak in the Karakoram, keeping watch at the far northwest end of this magnificent mountain range. Batura Sar is the highest mountain in the Karakoram Mountains, with no higher peak to the north or west anywhere in the world.
Batura Sar, also known as Batura I, is the crowning beauty of the Batura Wall's peaks, comprising part of the Batura Muztagh sub-range. These geological wonders can be found in Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains, a vast and awe-inspiring chain of peaks that includes legendary summits like K2 and Nanga Parbat. This massive range is 500 kilometers long and 200 kilometers wide, flawlessly linking with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at key spots.
The extraordinary trek to Batura Sar began in 1976, during the Göppingen Karakoram-Himalaya Expedition, with the first successful ascent to Batura I. This remarkable achievement etched the names of daring climbers into climbing history.
The Batura Sar Expedition encourages travelers to ascend this Karakoram giant's towering heights. You will go on an expedition that offers not only the thrill of conquering but also a profound and lasting connection with the natural wonders of the Karakoram Mountains, with the Batura Glacier as your backdrop and the stunning landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan surrounding you.
