Holiday Overview
Urdukas I am a component of the Karakoram Mountains, a mountain region famed for its sheer magnificence and difficult peaks. The Karakoram Mountain Range is a huge mountain range that spans Pakistan and China. It is famous for having some of the most magnificent mountains in the world, including the legendary K2, Gasherbrum, and Nanga Parbat. This vast range is approximately 500 kilometres long and 200 kilometres wide, with multiple points of contact with the Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains.
The best time to begin the ascent to the peak is usually during the summer months in Pakistan, from May to August. Following the trek to Urdukas I, participants will have the opportunity to continue exploring the region. They can travel to Concordia, which is known as the 'Throne Room of the Mountain Gods' due to the presence of towering peaks nearby. Alternatively, adventurers can return to Skardu, a destination known for its beautiful pastures, colourful culture, and rich legacy.
The expedition begins with a jeep ride from the adjacent town of Skardu to the base camp, following extensive briefings and preparations at the tourism department. The trail passes past the Baltoro Glacier before splitting into the sub-range. Urdukas I is flanked by neighbouring peaks, many of which reach elevations of 5,000, 6,000, and even 7,000 metres, creating an enthralling and hard playground for mountaineers.
The Urdukas I Expedition offers an immersive experience amid the mesmerising scenery and rich cultural history of the Karakoram Range in addition to the opportunity to conquer an awe-inspiring summit. This experience combines climbing thrills with exploration of one of Pakistan's most beautiful and culturally significant places, creating an amazing trek into the heart of the Karakoram Mountains.
