Holiday Overview
The Thallay La Trek, which spans the picturesque areas between Khaplu and Shigar, provides an opportunity to visit two of Baltistan's most lovely valleys. The Khaplu and Shigar Valleys are known for their lush fruit orchards, brilliant alpine flowers that bloom in the summer, and luscious foliage that carpets the hills and valleys. The walk itself is a visual treat, with each step unveiling breathtaking landscapes. Trekkers frequently stop to photograph the scenery, from the stunning valleys to the local ladies working in the fields, farmers looking at their cattle, and children playing freely in the bright summer sun.
The hiking trail travels alongside glacier streams, between shepherd herds, and through meadows blooming with colorful wildflowers. It's a voyage that completely immerses you in the region's natural beauties, providing glimpses of the harmonious coexistence of local people and the unspoiled environment. Shigar and Khaplu are also important base camps for mountaineers attempting to summit the difficult Karakoram Range's center peaks.
Thallay Valley is located in Ghanche, Gilgit Baltistan, along the Shyok River. The Shyok River eventually joins the Indus River near Keris, some 30 km west of Thallay. The valley is endowed with an abundance of natural resources, such as lush meadows, clean water, diversified animals, and mineral deposits. Thallay Valley is split into two parts: upper Thallay and lower Thallay. Thallay Broq, a gorgeous tourist resort that draws visitors from all over Pakistan and the world, is one of its gems. Furthermore, Thallay La, at 4,572 meters, and Shingkang Pass, at a formidable 5,100 meters, are particularly appealing destinations for tourists and trekkers.
To summarise, the Thallay La Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that allows you to experience the natural beauty and cultural wealth of the Baltistan region. It's an opportunity to get lost in the breathtaking landscapes of the Khaplu and Shigar Valleys, observe local populations' everyday lives and traditions, and immerse yourself in the pristine environment.
