Itinerary
The itinerary for Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek is given below.
Drive from Naran to Chilas (10-12 hours) via the Naran and Babusar Passes or the Karakuram Highway. Overnight in Chilas at a hotel Continue via Gilgit from Chilas to Karimabad-Hunza. Overnight stay at a hotel Full-day trek to Ultar Meadow and back to Karimabad, followed by a tour about and an evening drive to Minapin village (2000 meters). Spend the night in a tent or a hotel. Trek from Minapin to Hapakun 2800M (3 hours, 5.8 kilometers, and 800 meters ascent) The lush meadows of Hapakun (2800 M) are only 3 hours away from Diran Guest House in Minapin Village. Hapakun to Tagaphari 3300M (2-3 hours, 3km, 450m rise) - From Hapakun, a steep track leads to Rakaposhi Base Camp, also known as Tagaphari. For 30 minutes, the track eases off and curves the steep hill to a lush bowl. You may finally get a full picture of Diran Peak, Rakaposhi, and their interconnected ice walls. After arriving at Tagaphari, ascend the ridge for a beautiful view of the Hunza Valley and mountains. The Rakaposhi base camp trip is one of Pakistan's best adventures. Spend the night in the tent. Trekking across the glacier to Diran Base Camp (3700 M) takes about 3-4 hours on moraine and glacier. Sleeping in a tent Trek to Katchelly Lake (4000 M) in the morning, return to camp and then cross the Glacier to Tagaphari. Sleeping in a tent Trek back to Minapin for 3-4 hours before driving to Karimabad. Overnight stay at a hotel Day free for local sightseeing, Altit Fort and Baltit Fort. Overnight stay at a hotel Take the Karakorum Highway to Chilas. Overnight stay at a hotel Continue your journey to Islamabad. Holiday Overview
It takes roughly 2-3 hours to walk from Minapin Village to Hapakun, beautiful camping. The pleasant and hardworking local porter community offers assistance. To escape the heat, it is best to begin your walk early in the morning. Rakaposhi Base Camp is around 3-4 hours of slow walking from Hapakun, with designated camping spots and clean water available.
Those interested in Diran Base Camp must first cross the Katchelly Glacier, which takes about 2-3 hours on the moraine. It is possible to complete the round trip in one day, which will take approximately 6-7 hours. Alternatively, one can spend the night at Diran Base Camp and return to Tagaphari the following morning, or one can explore the surroundings of Rakaposhi Base Camp from Tagaphari.
